LINDA JEAN VAN PRAAG

Linda's passing was a great shock after I just saw her a month ago. I lost touch with her for sooo many yrs and finally found her. I got some of the friends that we went to school with together. We all finally got to see Linda again. It was great! The little time that I got to talk to her she would talk about her boys. How she would never move away from them. Always wanted to be close. She was like family to me even though we never kept in touch through out the years. I am so sorry for your loss. She was a great woman and loved her children dearly. She is no longer suffering.

  I met Linda at GOLD and had seen her at different places/events.

Linda always wore a smile and her energy was always very calm and peaceful.  She just had a warmth that made you want to pull up a chair and spend some time in her world.  I am happy to say I had that opportunity a number of times.

 

  I never knew or sensed any health issues, pain or discomfort.  The last time I saw her she just casually wished she could stop smoking and because she said it like it was no big deal and no effort, it felt like that would be her last smoke and in that instant, kick the habit.

 

 To Phil, Rob and Mary I offer my sincere condolences.

 To Linda I say thank you for being the special heart you will always be remembered for.

 

  

Dear Mary, Rob, and Phil --

I'm not sure that I'll be able to attend the memorial on Saturday, but I want to tell you how sorry I was to learn of Linda's health challenges over the past few years, and how terribly saddened I am about her loss. Please know that my thoughts and sympathies are with you.

The first time I met Linda was at a GOLD meeting. She had a special aura that lit up the room. Its warm radiance spoke of a person who was loving, caring, and accepting--of everyone, no matter what her/his history or circumstances may have been. I was a recipient of Linda's unconditional acceptance and, for that, I'll be forever grateful.

 

While I never had the opportunity to meet her sons, Phil and Rob, Linda always talked about them with the unique pride only a parent can express. To Phil and Rob, I offer my heartfelt condolences. Your mother was a very wonderful woman--in all ways--and I, too, will miss her.

To Linda's sons, Mary, and extended family members:

Linda's passing was a great shock, as well as a great loss. We loved Linda not only as one of our dear friends, but felt in our hearts like she was family. Many times we were together at a restaurant or on a beach or just hanging out in someone's house or yard. Linda made every time together special because she was special. We lost a good friend and a beautiful soul here on earth, but heaven has gained an angel. I hope you all know how much we loved her. We are so sorrowful for your loss and hope that as the days, months and years go by like us you will keep Linda in your memory and I hope that memory makes you smile the way she did. She is no longer in pain. That is our only consolation. I hope that consoles you too.

SHE WENT ON A DIET...GOT DOWN TO 150...WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO GETTING HER GOWNS, ALONG WITH THE HELP OF HER TWO FRIENDS VINNY, AND NICK...WHO ASSURED HER SHE WOULD BE A KNOCKOUT FOR BOTH EVENTS.  I KNOW YOU BOTH MISS HER...MY DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO YOU BOTH.

 

MARY... YOU AND LINDA HAVE BEEN CLOSE FOR OVER 20 YEARS IN MANY DIFERENT WAYS... I KNOW YOU ARE HURTING  MARY... TIME WILL BE THE BEST HEALER FOR ALL WHO LOVED HER
